Horton Plaza Park, 1885

Arcadia

Alonzo Horton’s dream of building a beautiful bayfront city had come true less than 20 years after purchasing the land. It was his desire that Horton Plaza, seen here in 1885, would forever remain a public park. Horton Plaza Park is still a gateway to the bustling commerce of the Horton Plaza urban shopping mall. To the left was Horton’s pride and joy, the Horton House Hotel.
