Halloween at Croissant Park Elementary School, 1952

Arcadia

Halloween was a very special time for area students in the 1950s. Schools sponsored fairs and haunted houses, and classrooms enjoyed costume contests and parties with lots of treats. Pictured here is a young teacher revealing the secret of a jack-o’-lantern to some rather eerily costumed children at the new Croissant Park Elementary School. The school, which is shown in the other photograph in October 1952, was located at 1800 Southwest Fourth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, (Courtesy of Gene Hyde Collection, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, H240.1 and H223.1.)
