William Cann Memorial Park

Union City police chief William Cann was assassinated during a community meeting at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on June 11, 1974. After his death Union City dedicated a park to him as the William Cann Memorial Park. On September 7, 1975, a memorial grove was planted in honor of Chief Cann. His wife, Elizabeth, and his son Chris assisted with the planting. (Courtesy of the Museum of Local History.)
