The Blackman Building, 1911 on First Street. The Penobscot Hotel, built by the Blackman Bros once stood on this site before burning in the great fire (1888-1911). Snohomish's first four-star hotel served the visitors arriving by the new Seattle, Lake Shore & Eastern Railway, including the founders of Everett who could easily afford the $1.50 daily rate for the largest rooms, each with their own stove and a view of First Street.
