The initial construction of the Tri-Boro Expressway cut into Russian Hill, shown on the right in 1968. The three streets known collectively as Russian Hill were Howard, Bella, and Laveen. Patton Street can be seen in the right center of the photograph, directly in front of a row of homes. (Courtesy of the Westinghouse Air Brake Company photographers.)
