The White Construction Company Built Yankee Stadium

Arcadia

The White Construction Company built Yankee Stadium in only 284 days. Jacob Ruppert purchased the 11.6-acre site in 1921 for $560,000. The first game at the new stadium was held on April 18, 1923, against the Boston Red Sox, and Gov. Al Smith threw out the first ball. The Yankees won. This photograph shows the stadium after it was renovated.
