Bachman Lake, circa 1918

Arcadia

Originally Dallas’s first reservoir, Bachman Lake’s shoreline was transferred to the park department in 1930 for development as a park. The lake was created in 1903 by damming the Bachman branch of the Trinity River. This aerial view was made circa 1918 by a Love Field pilot. A biplane is seen performing a stunt in the foreground, and the Bachman water treatment plant is visible along the shore. (Courtesy of the Love Field Album and Photographs.)
