The Watt Webb castle was located on Truman Road opposite the entrance to Mount Washington Cemetery. It was designed as a replica of a Rhineland castle and built out of native fieldstone in 1893. Webb, founder of the Missouri Savings Bank, bought the 13-room castle in 1898, when the grounds covered more than 30 acres and had a stone carriage house, lake, and moat. The castle was razed after a 1977 fire. (Bill Latta.)
