The Rath House, Designed in 1907

Arcadia

The Rath House at 2701 W. Logan Boulevard was designed by Prairie School architect George W. Maher (1864-1926) in 1907. It was built for John Rath (1870-1924), who made his fortune in the barrel making business. The two-story home with its low overhanging roof and wide door and window openings is a classic example of Maher’s Prairie School design. The mansion was designated a Chicago landmark on December 1, 1993.
