When the Southcenter Mall was planned, local retailers such as the Bon Marché, J. C. Penney, and Nordstrom-Best, staked their claims on sites a year ahead of Frederick & Nelson’s, who ended up in a wing that was added on later. Completed in 1968, the Southcenter store would be Frederick & Nelson’s last significant new real estate venture for 10 years. (Courtesy of the Wendell Family.)
