Description for Records:

Dynamic, angled ‘Bow and Arrow’ installation. Located in Rincon Park, near Bay Bridge in San Francisco, CA, USA. Sculpted by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, commissioned by D&DF Foundation. Installed in November 2002.

Constructed of structural carbon steel, cast epoxy and reinforced plastic. Painted vibrant red and yellow with polyester gelcoat.

The artifact is surrounded by a small grassy area, a pedestrian transit zone and overlooks the San Francisco Bay.

The taut wire and scale of the monument (143’ wide, 64’ tall) increases the sculpture's illusion of power and movement.
