Helmerich & Payne, Inc., with headquarters in Tulsa, used this giant rig to drill the Rumberger No. 5 well at a depth of 24,002 feet for Shell Oil Company about five miles south of Elk City in western Oklahoma. At the time it was completed, it ranked as Oklahoma’s deepest and the world’s second deepest oil well.
