Hitching Post Wedding Chapel

Arcadia

Las Vegas made it easy to get married. There was no blood test required or waiting period. Many a couple eloped to Las Vegas. In 1923, the residence at 226 South Fifth Street (now Las Vegas Boulevard) was built. After remodeling the home, Halley and Mildred Stewart opened the old West–themed Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in 1940. It was one of the first wedding chapels in Las Vegas. Today a bank sits on the property.
